When Carolyn was asked for her most memorable performances from the last couple of years,
she enthusiastically recalled two major events. She was invited to perform at a birthday
gala for Dame Shirley's next door neighbours in Monaco. Almost until curtain up it was not clear if
Dame Shirley would be in the audience so Carolyn's nerves were especially frayed.!!
As Carolyn is at the top of her field in the corporate market she performs as DSB at the most
prestigious of these events. The second event she recalled with equal enthusiasm was the launch
of the new Bond perfume for Avon. Ben Shephard from GMTV hosted and the show was beamed
over Europe and USA. Goldfinger never sounded so fresh and exciting!!
Carolyn is able to support many charities and for two consecutive years she was invited to
top the bill at the annual Meningitis Ball. Carolyn was also privileged to be asked to top the bill
as DSB at the Blackpool Opera House for the Armed Forces charity event 2010.
The Sold out show was organised to emulate the Royal Variety Show where Carolyn closed the show, together with the cast and her superb rendition of "Music Was My First Love".
In Spring 2009 tickets went on sale for the forthcoming Autumn concert tour. During the summer break there were numerous gown fittings as well as band rehearsals. Carolyn delved back into Dame Shirley's extensive back catalogue for songs not heard for many years. It is these songs that are constantly requested, very few audiences are interested in material from the new album. It is always Bassey the belter and emotional delivery that draws applause. Carolyn did however preview a couple of tracks from Performance CD before its official release date. Just to be one step ahead!!!
Carolyn has been touched to receive many plaudits from the audiences at the theatre shows. Many fans writing on the official Dame Shirley Bassey Message Board came to see Carolyn and subsequently enthused over her portrayal as DSB. Their reviews have appeared on the message board and Carolyn Rowe is the only DSB tribute to be praised on this devotional site. They appreciate every nuance of her performance as DSB.
Carolyn was invited to perform on the Azura's refit maiden voyage for P&O Cruises, however she had to decline due to other commitments and she used this time to promote the forthcoming theatre tour. BBC Lincoln and BBC Norfolk were especially kind to her in this promotion. Indeed, BBC Lincoln extended her original interview from ten minutes to almost one hour. Carolyn also
played a short promotional pre tour set for one of London's premier Gay hotspots where she received fantastic reviews from the gay press deeming her to be, "the only DSB tribute".
Carolyn took an active role in the remixing of her new live CD "Carolyn Rowe live in Concert" prior to its Autumn sale.
The Theatre concerts were enthusiastically received and Carolyn had a film crew alongside her filming a forthcoming documentary. A promo concert trailer has been produced from this footage and is available to view on this site.
Carolyn now counts Ken Clarke, HM Chancellor as a fan
of hers. She met him at a private client party where she was invited to perform as DSB. Ken Clarke who has seen Dame Shirley work at Grosvenor House was so enthusiastic about Carolyn's performance. This was even more poignant for Carolyn as her passion is politics and Ken Clarke has always been an icon of hers.
Thus far into 2010 Carolyn performs in both the corporate and private market and continues to perform as DSB in Theatre. She has just returned from a short tour of Wales via a corporate event once again at Gleneagles Scotland!!!
She would like a well earned rest but with many offers on the table that is unlikely.

Carolyn Rowe's working year reads like a whistle stop
tour of the major cities of the UK and Europe pausing
occasionally to perform for 40,000 people at Elland Rd
Leeds football stadium, televised across the world,
then straight on to a glamorous charity performance
for the Royal family of Holland (The Orange Ball).
Sprinkled into these amazing events are the James Bond
corporate evenings, as far north as Glen Eagles in Scotland
and as far South as Cornwall for a Bond event with
Pierce Brosnan (Douglas James, James Bond impersonator).
Arriving by helicopter for a selected audience of millionaires
intent on listening to the spell bound voice of Carolyn Rowe's,
Bassey Sings Bond tribute show before purchasing Diamonds
and Cartier courtesy of a leading British jeweller.

She found time to sing at an ITV Good Morning birthday party,
in-between cabaret at the Inn on the Park and Grosvenor Hotel
both in Park Lane London she was in the TV studios for ITV
Loose Women and the GMTV Lorraine Kelly Show.

She was also found singing Bond on Channel 5 news!
Add to this private bookings for anniversary evenings, birthday
celebrations and charity dinners including a memorable evening
singing on the magnificent staircase in the British Museum
Great Hall, where the sound engineer refused to believe she was
not the real Shirley Bassey, but a Shirley Bassey impersonator!.
A fog bound flight to Guernsey gave us cause for concern but
we arrived just in time for sound check.
The island held its breath for Carolyn's arrival, the next day,
the Guernsey Globe newspaper review was outstanding. We had
an easier time flying to Galway (Ireland) where Carolyn was invited
to top the bill at the televised song festival.

An invitation to a Gala evening in Marbella Spain, topped up
Carolyn's tan before she went back into the recording studio to
record her version of the new single The Living Tree and perfect the
voice instantly recognised as Dame Shirley Bassey. She then returned
home exhausted.
Her year culminated with a New year's Eve gala at the Baden Baden
Casino/Concert Hall in Germany, the huge Concert Hall played
Dame Shirley Bassey herself some years earlier. After visiting friends
in Frankfurt Carolyn flew home to refresh herself and reflect on an amazing year.
